By Cyndy Wright, Lead Clermont Class of 1994 It started as fun; a way to create a friendly rivalry among Lead Clermont classes. The bragging rights for "the best class" bantered back and forth in casual conversations among the grads. As the programs expanded so did the claims of being "the best class." At the Clermont 20/20, Inc. Board Retreat in November of 2004 the idea to really find out who owns the bragging rights for "the best class" evolved into the friendliest of competitions. As the saying goes, 'it was time to put your money where your mouth is.' In order to boost individual memberships, the Development Council of the Board of Clermont 20/20 decided to run a campaign during the spring culminating with the close of business on July 13, 2005. The official bragging rights could be bought and paid for in total dollars raised per class in individual memberships and in the highest percentage of total grads contributing. Each year the competition would renew itself allowing opportunities to claim the beloved prize! The membership tiers were expanded to allow for greater opportunities for giving. To be a "Friend of 20/20" was $20.20. A Reward Membership with database privileges was $30.00 and a Generous Donor membership is recognized at giving $50.00 or more. Ann Appleton of the First Impressions Class kicked off the campaign with a check for $155.00! Thank you, Ann! The competition raised $3,333.40 with one third of the dollars going directly to the Leadership Institute to support program funding. (Please see below for your class standings in this year's competition) The winners were announced at the LEAD Clermont, Senior Leadership and Educational Leadership Graduation held on Thursday, July 14, 2005 at the Holiday Inn, Eastgate. It was announced that the Best Class honors were to be held by two classes, the Lead Clermont Class of 1999 and Senior Leadership Class of 2005. However, after further scrutinizing the numbers we realized that we had made a mistake. During the administrative transition in the offices of Clermont 20/20, there were several entries that were misapplied. Our deepest apologies go to the Lead Clermont Class of 1999 for the mistake. They were the "2nd Best Class" in total dollars raised. Jeannee Saunders, Lead Clermont Class of 1999 alum, has graciously accepted our apology and vowed that for the 2006 competition "the LEAD class of 1999 will be #1!" THE BEST CLASS honors now officially belong to the SENIOR Leadership Class of 2005 for most dollars raised and for the highest percentage of giving! Congratulations to the 2005 Senior Leadership Class for having participation rate of 69% and for raising $290.00! (And they weren't even graduated yet! Talk about leadership!) By the way, we even had one member of the incoming LEAD Clermont class of 2006 join! Thank you to everyone who participated. Officially, "THE BEST CLASS" campaign for 2006 began on July 15th. There is plenty of time before Graduation in 2006 to buy your class the bragging rights. Don't wait! Jeannee Saunders has thrown down the gauntlet. If you want to make your class "The Best Class" then step up now and make sure everyone renews or joins Clermont 20/20, Inc. today! Results of BEST CLASS 2005
