Mentoring Program is seeking mentors now for Amelia, Glen Este, Williamsburg and Felicity High Schools. Two mentors begin working with a group of 10 to 12 freshman, once a week, for approximately 35 to 45 minutes during their school day - from their freshman year through their high school graduation!!! The first class that started at Glen Este High School will be graduating in May of 2006 and their two mentors, Gene Bishop and Bill Becker, will be cheering them on in the audience! Please see the flyer for more information. If you are willing to be part of this exciting effort, please contact Cindy Jenkins at cindy.jenkins@clermont2020.org.

  2. Ohio EPA Grant to Clean and Green
Ohio EPA, Ohio Environmental Education Fund has awarded a $4,916.50 grant to Clermont 20/20, Inc. Clean and Green Program for the Clermont 20/20 Master Recycler Composter Program. The Clean and Green Program is a partnership of both public and private organizations, focused on litter prevention and community improvement and beautification through citizen action, education, and strategic partnerships in Clermont County.

The Clermont 20/20 Master Recycler Composter Program is an opportunity for citizens to learn about reducing solid waste, recycling, pre-cycling and composting. The course includes a component where participants are required to share this information in their community to encourage conservation of resources and safe handling of hazardous materials. As our community grows, so does our need for waste management. One of the most effective alternatives is reducing waste through daily decision-making. Not only does this help Ohio reach it's statewide goal of 50% of waste being recycled, it also inspires community members to make a difference and impact their community in a very easy and effective way.

The first class was held on September, 19, 2005. "What an exciting and informative way to learn how to make meaningful changes at home and in your community," shared one class participant. The Ohio EPA, OEEF grant will provide funding for the fall, 2006 course. Interested participants are encouraged to call 513-753-9222 to be notified of the time and dates.
