  2. Clean and Green Spring Litter Pick-up - April 22, 2006

Clermont 20/20 Clean and Green announces its Spring Litter Pick-Up. On Saturday, April 22, 2006, from 9:00 AM until noon, volunteers from across Clermont County will gather at designated meeting sites to help keep Clermont County litter free and beautiful. For the eighth consecutive year, this coalition of local organization has accepted the challenge to clean up the litter scattered along the roadways of Clermont County.

Rex Parsons, Co-Chair of the Clean and Green Program explains, "Although all of us know littering is against the law, unfortunately some individuals still choose to do so. Your participation in this year's event will help remove unsightly litter from our community's roads and encourage others to show pride in our County by keeping it clean." Now is the time to get involved. First, talk with your friends, family, neighbors, or members of a civic organization with which you are affiliated. You can certainly participate as an individual, but getting a group together can make it a fun occasion. There are many locations around Clermont County where volunteers will meet prior to the pick-up. Afterwards there will be a cook-out that is always a fun event! Please call 513-753-9222 to register. Registered participants will receive t-shirts, vests, gloves, and garbage bags. T-shirts are limited, so register early!

According to Paul Braasch, Director, Adams-Clermont Solid Waste District, "Taking part in this litter pick-up is important because it indicates that litter in our community is not socially acceptable. Plus it can be fun, you can meet some new people, get a little outdoor exercise, and do something positive for your community." The Spring Clean and Green Litter Pick-up is part of a larger national effort, The Great American Clean-up. Last year we were part of the 2.45 million volunteers who collected 208 million pounds of debris; planted 4.2 million flowers and bulbs; and collected 2.1 million scrap tires for recycling.

If you would like to volunteer for the Clean and Green Pick-Up on April 22, contact Clermont 20/20 Clean and Green at 513-753-9222 or e-mail cleanandgreen@clermont2020.org.
