  2. Leadership Programs 2007

As our current leadership classes approach graduation, it is time to start forming next year's classes. Do you know someone who would benefit from taking the LEAD class? How about a Senior citizen who would like to network with other seniors while learning about the community at the same time? If you would like to nominate someone, or just have information sent to them, contact Susie Oliver at 513-753-9222 or at leadership@clermont2020.org. You can also use the Nomination Form on our web site.

  3. LEAD Clermont Project Proposals

Are you involved with a non-profit organization that could use some assistance? Consider proposing a project for the LEAD Clermont Class of 2007. Every year, the LEAD class takes on 4 or 5 projects aimed at improving the Quality of Life in Clermont County. We are currently taking proposals for next year's class. For more information, contact Susie Oliver at 513-753-9222.

  4. Regional Leadership Day

Would you like to learn more about Leadership from a Regional Perspective? Mark your calendar for our Regional Leadership Day, a joint-leadership day with Clermont, Warren, Brown and Clinton Counties. The 1-day session will be held on Thursday, June 15, from 8 a.m. - 4 p.m. at the High Tech Center in Hillsboro, OH. The cost is $30 per person. Topics include Land Use, Transportation, Work Force and Education. If you would like more information, please contact Susie Oliver at 513-753-9222.

  7. Five Rules for Dealing with Conflict

    1. Encourage people to express their opinions. Being polite doesn't put any ideas on the table.
    2. Focus on the mission when disagreements arise. Don't be distracted by the people.
    3. Warn people to avoid aggressive behavior.
    4. Issue fines when people launch attacks on someone they disagree with. Cash fines, payable immediately.
    5. Collect people's opinions individually in potentially difficult situations. Summarize them in writing and feed back the summary to the whole group.

  8. Ten Ways to Praise and Recognize Teams

    1. Have a manager pop in at a special project team's first meeting to express appreciation for the members' involvement.
    2. Open the floor for team members to praise anyone at the beginning or end of a meeting.
    3. When a group member presents an idea or suggestion, encourage other team members to thank the person for his or her contribution.
    4. Create symbols of a team's work, such as T-shirts or coffee cups with a team or company motto or logo printed on them.
    5. Hold a 'praise barrage,' where team members write down and share things they like about another member of the team.
    6. Assign one member of the team the job of creating and presenting an award for another member of the team.
    7. Alternate the responsibility for team recognition among different team members each week or at each meeting.
    8. Host a refreshments gathering, a potluck, or a special breakfast or lunch to celebrate interim or final results.
    9. Ask an upper manager to attend a 'bragging session' with the team, during which the group shares its achievements, and team members are thanked for their specific contributions.
    10. Write letters to every team member at the conclusion of a project thanking them for their contribution, and include a copy in their personnel file.
