Cornhole Tournament is a great way
to kick off the Taste of Clermont event, enjoy some great
food, play some cornhole and support a worthwhile
cause.
Clermont 20/20, Inc. is holding an amateur Cornhole
Tournament at 7 pm on Friday, September 11th at Eastgate mall.
The fundraising event, held during the Annual Taste of
Clermont, benefits our Last Dollar Grant scholarship fund. Now
in its eighth year, this fund awards scholarships to Clermont
County high school seniors who show financial need as well as
a commitment to pursuing higher education. A lot of kids
starting their senior year have no idea how they'll afford to
go on to college. Many of the students we talk with are
low-income, first generation college students whose parents
did not attend college. The great thing about the
services our program provides to the schools is that our
in-school advisors are able to take the time to work
one-on-one with the seniors and their families to help them
complete the financial aid application and find
scholarships. Our Last Dollar Grant scholarships have
allowed students to pay for their books, purchase laptops and
ultimately bridge the gap between the aid already received and
the cost to attend. Last year, we awarded fourteen Last
Dollar Grants to graduating seniors throughout Clermont. All
of the proceeds from this year's Cornhole Tournament will go
directly into our scholarship fund and will allow us to
continue to provide the scholarships to some amazing students
who have so much potential. Please sign your cornhole team up
today! Play some cornhole, eat some great food, and help
support a worthwhile cause!

LEAD Class of 2010 Up and
Running - Building
Trust
Seventeen individuals started their
journey through LEAD Clermont the weekend of August 21st
and 22nd at Woodland Lakes Retreat Center in Amelia.
Seventeen friends left the teambuilding retreat after
starting the process of building trust in each other.
Watching how the Class of 2010 came together was a
noticeable factor that reminded me of another important
benefit LEAD Clermont provides to people who go through
the class. It's actually the most fundamental piece in
my opinion. Building TRUST. The
teambuilding retreat is the kick-off to an almost
year-long study of Clermont County by individuals from
all sectors of the Clermont Community, who get the
opportunity to hear directly from subject matter experts
on a variety of topics and issues. At the heart of each
class day is the learning that leadership and
citizenship are paramount to any community's vitality
and quality of life. However, it takes people who trust
and respect each other and are willing to be engaged,
that determine the level of prosperity a community
achieves. Knowing more about Clermont County's
resources, environments and the challenges we face in
terms of economic, community, government, education,
health and so on, presents LEAD class members the
opportunity to broaden their perspectives and "select"
the way in which they want to participate and contribute
to the community. Specifically, a key
objective of Clermont 20/20 through its leadership
programs is to build trust among people from the
different public and private sectors in the County. LEAD
Clermont is a platform where people can come together
and get a more holistic view of Clermont's challenges
and opportunities. By developing trust in each other,
LEAD class members become linked to each other and LEAD
alumni as citizens capable of helping to improve and
shape Clermont County's future. So
congratulations to the LEAD Class of 2010 for completing
your teambuilding retreat and welcome to a year of
developing your leadership potential and citizenship.
We're glad you're here and Clermont County is glad that
you're involved. It says a lot about you, your
employers, and our sponsors. Andy

LIVE
Clermont Senior Lead Program joins Senior
Services' Lifelong
Learning
Our LIVE Clermont Senior Lead Program
will become part of the curriculum of Clermont Senior
Services' Lifelong Learning program! The LIVE
Clermont program was developed by Clermont 20/20 ten
years ago as a way of tapping into the knowledge of
senior citizens and keeping them engaged in Clermont
County. When the program was launched, Clermont
Senior Services' Lifelong Learning program had not been
developed. Today, Lifelong Learning is a strong
component of the services that Clermont Senior Services
delivers to seniors in the County. The move is also part
of an effort to align our programs and to work with
other partners and alliances that enhance the delivery
of services in Clermont County. The next LIVE Clermont
program is expected to be available in the spring of
2010!
We wish
the following Alumni and Friends of Clermont
20/20 a Happy Birthday !!!
Happy
Birthday Virgo's!
With an acute
attention to detail, the Virgo is the sign in the zodiac
most dedicated to serving. Their deep sense of the
humane leads them to caregiving like no other, while
their methodical approach to life ensures that nothing
is missed. The Virgo is often gentle and delicate,
preferring to step back and analyze before moving
ahead.

Libra's! 'I BALANCE' is the motto for Libra.
You like harmony in your relationships and surroundings.
You appreciate beauty in all its forms. You are
fair-minded and like to weigh up all the pros and cons
before making a decision. You're also charming and
diplomatic and have a flair for bringing people
together. You are intellectual and enjoy a good
argument, where you're always ready to put the opposite
point of view. You love company but are happiest in a
partnership. Sometimes your wish to get things right can
make you seem indecisive and your reluctance to act,
lazy. You are the peacemakers of the zodiac.

Goal for United Way of Greater Cincinnati -
Eastern
Area $1,324,022
Marvin A. Blade, customer relations area manager,
Duke Energy, and chair, United Way of Greater Cincinnati
- Eastern Area 2009 campaign, has announced a goal of
$1,324,022.
"We're working to ensure children are ready to
learn when they reach kindergarten and that families
have the tools they need to achieve financial
stability," says Blade. "I hope local individuals and
businesses will support our efforts to help create
lasting change here in Brown and Clermont
counties.
"They will be helping youth explore careers and
build life skills through Boys & Girls Club of
Clermont County, and ensuring older adults live
independently through programs at Clermont Senior
Services," he says.
The region wide United Way campaign, chaired by
A.G. Lafley, chairman, The Procter & Gamble Company,
kicked off August 26 during the organization's first
ever, Virtual Kickoff. United Way volunteers, donors,
and agencies participated in the online event, which is
still available at www.liveunitedgc.org.
United Way works every day to advance the common
good by focusing on education, income, and health.
Living United means being part of making these
long-lasting changes a reality in our community.
The campaign is a fundraising partnership of United
Way of Greater Cincinnati and the Cincinnati Area
Chapter, American Red Cross. The campaign ends October
30.

campaign including what it supports and how you can get
